Epicness and Endings
Jun. 14th, 2011 04:18 pmThe weekend kicked off with an Inception viewing with a number of fine folks. The volume was loud and the drinks flowed. After the movie I stopped in for the latter half of Xmortis, and was completely distracted by the two Chinese girls with long blond wigs on. I thought I was among the Dothraki ;) I ran into Emily and Dmitir and Karen on the way in, and that set the tone for a fabulous evening of revelry. Once again there was late night Rock Band.
Saturday Matt drove me up to New Hampshire for our Warhammer tournament. The store didn't have any of the new Tomb King models in stock, so winning the event became less of a priority. That was a good thing, as I got crushed in my first game. I returned the favor by crushing my second round opponent, and ending the day with a draw against Matt. We drove home in the monsoon, I arrived just in time to grab dinner at Little Q and head out to an Epic Party. The billing was pretty accurate: I talked to a girl with a silver saxophone in the kitchen, there was drumming and random instrument playing upstairs, wrestling and dancing and lots of lounging, with all manner of funny and stimulating and awesome costumes. I suffered through a bit of nausea mid party, but by the end I recovered and stayed until about four in the morning. There were no issues of envy, lots of good conversations, and a definite feeling of belonging.
Sunday, I didn't get nearly enough sleep. I dropped by a local store to pick up a bunch of new Tomb Kings models, zigzagged through some awful construction to get to my massage, and wiped away all the stress I had built up on my trip. I drove Stephanie to her regular job, then spent the rest of my night assembling models and watching Milk, Jonah Hex, and Centurion. Now there's a varied day of cinema.
Monday and Tuesday I failed at catching up on sleep, but succeeded in bringing my Deadlands game to a satisfying, dramatic conclusion. I'll be on hiatus from running a game for a while, but I plan on returning in few months with a new project. My most recent project? Getting a good night's sleep!
