I was trying to think of what level of Awesome I was expecting when I watched Skyline this weekend. As a good movie it utterly failed, but wasn't without a few good moments (one involving a crashing jet) and characters ("Carlos" the bad ass valet). It came to me later that I was hoping for a Starship Troopers level of Awesome. I was sorely disappointed. I shared this misery with a number of friends, and misery shared is misery lessened. The night continued at a friend's house warming party. Good times were had, especially once everyone started singing along to Queen.

My theory of why I was so hung over on Saturday was that my kidney has ceased working. The more likely cause was utter lack of food or water until 3:00 or so. I managed to hold things together through my first meeting with my new doctor. It was mostly a fact finding and introduction session, we'll see how things go later this week when we start the proper investigation.

Despite my utter exhaustion, I made it through laundry, groceries, and two movies: Legion and Kick Ass. Legion was decent (certainly better than Skyline) but our plucky heroes should have been much more easily defeated. And as far as ways to end the world, possession a bunch of humans seems pretty weak and non-Biblical. I expect better Apocalypses from God. Kick Ass did just that: it was an awesome film in the best of ways, utterly enjoyable from start to finish.

Sunday I ran my first guest spot in our DND campaign. I need a bit more polish and level of detail, but the two large fights set the tone for the siege our group is entering. I got to hammer a few details down with Forest, and should be able to swing the next two sessions with more detail and chance for role-playing. The tricky part is finding a playdate: the holiday seasons are very tricky for co-ordinating people.

I neglected to mention Excess on Wednesday, which also managed to live up to its name. I wasn't as moved to dance as usual, and had a bit more to drink than normal. Chalk it up to nerves, as I'm still working on retaining my footing in certain scenes. If things pan out with the new doctor in the next month, I'll be giving it another go.
