I was barely late to the Espionage event this weekend, but made it in time for the mission briefing. Espionage is a interactive ride, for want of a better term. You move from room to room, infiltrating an enemy base. Along the way you have to solve puzzles, and sneak by laser lights, to progress. It's a fun time, though not as engaging in a large group. We were all dressed to the nines (as spies, naturally) and enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. Eric and I almost revealed our own status as double agents, which would have confused our poor host I'm sure. This is why you can't take veteran LARPers anywhere ;)
Kowloon is a zoo! The decorations are neat, but I can't imagine the horror of being a cook or bartender at such a place. Despite the teeming mass of humanity, I enjoyed my meat and double sized zombie drink, and was still fine to drive back to the party portion of the evening. The party was mostly relaxing, combined with a little spying, and a lot of flitting about. There was light saber dueling; I managed to not lose an eye, and surprised my opponent (who clearly knew what he was doing with a sword). Kendo loses to fencing, when you're just fooling around. A room full of Goths singing "Bohemian Rhapsody" for the birthday boy was the highlight of the night.
I ended the night at Sin-O-Matic. The crowd was more subdued than usual. I was almost smug as I'd watch Julia or Christina dance, and watch the passerby's gaping at them, then have the stop their dancing to give me hugs. That's just how we Secret Agents roll.
