Experiments and Trials
Aug. 24th, 2009 04:15 pmFriday: party in Central Square. I made some creative additions to my sangria, based on the open bar that was present. Results were wildly successful. Met Tricia's new roommate, and learned that there is no age limit on Spin the Bottle.
Saturday: Crossfit training, followed by prepping the house for Warhammer madness. Was the odd man out (again) so I got one practice game in (loss versus daemons) before heading out to a pig roast and Iron Mixology party. The pig was smoky and delicious as were the stuffed peppers. I took part in the Mixology contest and made it halfway through the contest before getting voted out of the kitchen. The night ended in Billerica for a housewarming. We'd arrived at the tail end of events, but we did manage to introduce a new group of people to the train wreck that is Showgirls. A decent time, but I was a bit out of it.
Sunday: In between bouts of Wipeout HD we had our bi-weekly DND game. Brother Stone rescued the soul of an angel from a crystal column, dying in the process of saving the world.
Today: Waking up was nightmarish. One of those situations where you wake up, go back to bed, and wake up again in the middle of a sleep cycle. I desperately wanted to stay in bed, but I forced myself over to the gym, cursing myself with each step. The inner monologue cut off when I started my first pull up. I beat my previous record by one increment, staggered home to shower and get to work. I caught up on True Blood, and spent the rest of the day feeling extremely wiped out and low. I'll make it to Spinjam to drop something off for a friend, but at the first dip in mood I'm bolting home to go to bed. I'm learning to cut my losses before I lose the battle.
