The visit was a rousing success.  My parents hadn't even been here thirty minutes before Mom said  "you seem so much happier now."  She'd be right.  We got Chinese food (and burgers for my dad), watched Hot Fuzz.  Friday we hit up the Museum of Science, and dinner at Dali's.  Mom said it was the best mean she's ever had (garlic shrimp and scallops in saffron for the win!).  Saturday we did a little shopping (books for her, hat and gloves for me) and watched American Gangster.  Most of the day was hiding from the cold.  Mom read, Dad played poker, I painted.  We talked a bit, but mostly enjoyed each other's company.  It was one of my happiest visits too, just reveling in the family connection.

The first hint something was wrong were the lamps at Arlington Station.  The automatic gates were the second hint; all open, all beeping a warning.  It looked like a power outage in the station, but when I left the T I saw the outage was all up and down the street.  Work was out of commission too, my boss told me to go home and work from there.  That was a nice little treat.  What's nicer is getting out of work at 2:00 tomorrow, which makes this a 1.5 day work week.

Even NICER?  I have delicious apple pie, courtesy of Pie in the Sky program.

Mmm. Pie.
