Full of win
Jun. 23rd, 2008 03:18 pmFrom spending quality time with an old friend, to a couple of victorious games of Warhammer, to dancing in various stages of undress at Sin-O-Matic, to surviving a beach assault by the skin of my teeth, this weekend rocked and rolled and was all those other cool Internet phrases the kids are saying these days.
I don't do it justice with that simple phrase. Each of the moments represents something good in it's own way. All of them are about making choices. Choosing to spend time with the people you are close to. Choosing not to get upset when the dice don't roll your way, and making the best choices in a tactical situation. Choosing to have an evening with a certain set of expectations, and not to make them unreasonable. Choosing to enjoy the things you love the most, regardless of who's watching. Choose moderation. Choose excess. Choose to enjoy the entirely of the story, the whole tapestry, and not just your little part in it.
All of these choices made the weekend a great one. The act of choosing, taking the wheel of your ship, picking your own direction rather then letting your course be set by others, is what makes it all so satisfying. Sharing those choices with others is like eating sugar that's good for you.
Tonight, I return to Spin Jam. I keep the fire burning (inside).
