The rain was slow but steady as I exited the tunnel at Arlington Station. I shambled down the street to work, dodging pedestrians, not realizing that I'd forgotten half my food for the day. The pattering of the rain muffled the sounds of the city around me, white noise. It's ironic that most of the time we talk about rainy days and "dreary" and "depressing" when in days past rain was a blessing. Much needed water for crops, or a break in the heat. You lose sight of that when you live in the city, and rain just means difficult driving conditions, or puddles to ruin your shoes, or unexpected baths from capricious motorists.
Thinking about the benefits of rain makes the day a little less dreary. I'm still bone exhausted and glad that this week is light on social activities. The best word that describes Monday's card reading was "murky" with an extra helping of "murky". When you can't see where you're going, the best thing you can do is sit a spell, and wait for some signs to orient yourself.
