jchrisobrien: (big trouble!)
Taking a day off this week helped put things back on a more even keel.  Good conversations with my roommate and Mat sped the process along even quicker.  A wise man said that we should play to our strengths, if we want to see good results.  I heard this the night I finally returned to one of my strenghts, which is running a game.

After many weeks of preparation, we settled down to our first Deadlands (d20) game.  Character prep took about half our time, then the rest was getting everyone settled into Dodge.  Half the group knew each other, and the other half were strangers.  By night's end everyone was gathered in the same room for the cliffhanger, so next week we get to jump into the action, boots first.  The hardest part is over, and from now one I have several stories already in the works, and plenty of time to flesh things out further.

Doing something I really enjoy has got me looking forward to the weekend again, and to the upcoming weeks.  The holidays can be a harrowing time, but I think this year's going to end on a good note if I decide that it will.
