I hug my parents farewell, and wave to them as they pull out of the driveway. I stand and watch their car drive down the road until it turn onto Rt. 16 and out of my sight. I do this every time they visit, which is about once a year.

They are doing well, my mom will soon be of age where she can retire. She says she's looking forward to it, but I know she will miss teaching. Our visit was pretty quiet this year: dad spent a lot of time watching golf, and mom was reading or watching movies with me (Hot Fuzz, Pan's Labyrinth, Casino Royale). We talked a bit about the latest Harry Potter book and Ender's Game (she has copies of both in her classroom). We made our yearly visit to Rockport to devour tasty crustaceans, and walk around the shops. We tried to go on a duck tour, but they were sold out. Instead, we took a movie tour. A gregarious lass led us through the Commons and Beacon Hill, point out locations where various films were shot, and telling interesting stories about them. the Departed and Good Will Hunting were obviously covered, but she talked about the Boondock Saints, the Thomas Crown affair, and Blown Away (the film that got action movies banned in Boston). We finished the tour and picked up overstuffed sandwiches at De Luca's Markets, which were delicious.
I also showed them most of the moves I know from poi class.

There was perhaps a little less communication on this trip, but we hand't been in touch or contact for a while. I could be a little handier on the phone, but so could they. I'll be taking that initiative more in the coming weeks and months. Once Christmas rolls around, I'm sure we'll have something to say.
