Spooky boys and scared girls
Mar. 14th, 2007 01:20 pmThe Covenant had two things going for it: A cool song in the opening credits (Rob Zombie) and a cool song during the end credits (Front Line Assembly remixed by Collide). The rest of it? Not soo cool. The premise was fine, the execution was horrible. The concept was good, but why go with witchcraft when no one used spells? They should have just made it a mutant movie, they were in New England after all. Then they could have had Emma Frost. Mmm.
The Descent was a very good, very frightening movie... for about half of it. Half suspense, half horror. Six girls go caving and horrible things happen. The caving scenes in the first part of the movie were much scarier than the rest (not to give too much away). One scene completely strained all credibility, but no one's perfect. There were two endings to the movie, one (the U.S.) reminiscant of Phantasm, one (the U.K.) reminiscant of John Carpenter's The Thing. I didn't like the ending we saw (the U.K) at first, but I did appreciate it after a while. It's the first horror film that made me feel uncomfortable in a while, I reccomend it highly.
