Turnabout is fair play

Apparantly there is a little message meme going around that childs women for going out with the wrong guy, when the man of their dreams was right by their side all along.  That works fine for a John Hughes movie, and maybe when you're 17 it seems noble and heart-felt. 

Here are some words of wisdom from my friend Ivy Crown, about that subject:

This fucking thing is going around the internet a lot right now, and having it show up as a bulletin on my myspace page was the last straw - this is what I have to say about the "but I'm such a nice guy" statement currently doing the rounds.

No guys, I’m sorry.

I’m sorry that you think I am supposed to automatically love you if that is what you desire. 

I’m sorry that you can’t be my friend without expecting something in return.

I’m sorry that you think that all women are only impressed by money and nice abs. 

I’m sorry if you don’t think that about all women, but only the one you want to sleep with.

I’m sorry that you find it offensive if I have different interests or plans than you do. 

I’m sorry that you don’t think I’m being a good friend if I don’t want to stay home and “cuddle” with you.

I’m sorry that you think it’s okay to insult me if I choose not to sleep with you, especially if I am sexually active in other relationships. 

I’m sorry that the only way you will accept appreciation for being a “nice guy” is through sex or the expression of physical desire implied in a romantic relationship. 

I’m sorry that you think I owe you something. 

I’m sorry that you think that you can say these things to me and still claim that you are “not an asshole”. 

(And for some of you - I’m sorry that I find it particularly hard to feel bad for you when you talk about what a “nice guy” you are on the same website on which you feel okay posting pictures that objectify women.  I guess that isn’t the girl you’re opening doors for.)
