Compared to Maine, this is the pretty people beach, she said.  I haven't seen Maine, but I'll take her word for it.  Milkgonebad and I slid into the water at Walen Pond.  I hadn't been swimming in, oh, six years maybe?  I ended up doing lots of breast stroke and side strokes as we set out for the far shore.  I made it a little past halfway on my first try, before we headed back into shore for handstands and general horsing around.  The water was very warm and jungle green when I looked underneath it.  When I let my sink, I could feel the cold begin, about six feet under the surface.  It was lovely to swim again after all that time away.  I'm sure with enough time I could make it to the far side and back again.

Shift was a nice change of pace for a Wednesday.  I could have done without the hula hoops, but the drinks were nice, and the music was grooving.  I almost danced a few times, heard some catchy new tunes and the song I requested.  My muscles decided swimming the lenght of Walden pond was enough effort for one night.  There was some surprise company at the club, which was very enjoyable.  The walk to and fro was also nice, I parked just outside of Harvard Sq.  I could feel all the energy in Harvard Sq. blowing around me, carried on the cool night breeze.  I passed the burying ground, and saw one lone sneaker lying between two graves.

Oh, the stories you could tell.
