learning, rainy days, late nights
Sep. 20th, 2004 09:22 amI wouldn't have guessed that dancing with a tie on would have been so comfortable. I also didn't realize how much the block I was on shifted. It threw me for a second, but after that it was fine. There were so many old faces forming from the crowd. I remember pig tails, lollipops, and platium wigs. A pair of kisses on the cheek, the straightening of a tie, and dismissive smiles.

The rain beat it stacatto rhythm on the roof of the truck. Wet boxes stacked on top of each other, interlocking, using every inch of space. The slow burning in your muscles from lifting and shifting. The fire brigade of boxes and lamps and bed frames twisting around landing going up and up and up. In the end, a new house and a new start.
******
Long late drives should rarely be undertaken when you are alone and tired. Even if you have things to do. Sudden twitches on the high way. Lights looming in front of you. Traffic patterns that are sudden radically different than what you expect. Cold wind buffeting your face, atonal singing that's less about staying in tune and more about giving you focus, concentration.
