No end to hurdles
Jul. 2nd, 2004 11:14 amYesterday around noon, my ankle start to hurt. It started as a throbbing, then it got worse. By the time I left work I was limping. My tendons were screaming, the flesh was tender to the touch. There's never a good time to sprain your ankle, but this ESPECIALLY was not a good time, considering my weekend plans. I checked my leg later on and saw that my sock was constricting around my leg. I rolled it down and my leg was constricted in two places. My damn sock did this? Crikey! I might as well have wrapped wire around my leg.
Well, a good night's sleep bare legged and the swelling and pressure should go down, and I'll be fine in the morning. If you're in the Boston area, you should know that last night was not the night for sleeping.
The thunder and lighting went off like the flash from a cannon. I was jolted out of bed, my leg still hurting, my ears ringing, my room briefly haloed in the lightning's strobe. My closet was open like a maw in the darkness, and I was damn convinced some spooky girl would appear, staring at me, dead and accusing. Fortunately, my love of a good thunderstorm displaced all spooky imagery, and I watched lighting pierce the sky until my lids grew heavy and dragged me back down to sleep.
It's almost noon. The leg is still a little tender, but it's not throbbing constantly. The weekend's plans are back on schedule. Tomorrow will be a beautiful day!
