I'm running out of adjectives to describe how awesome my Fridays and general clubbing experiences have been lately. The front room at ManRay is open again, and I celebrated with some serious dancing.
Friday night was another great night of dancing, I think I might have exploded when they played my favorite track from the latest Skinny Puppy album. There was a complete lack of self for about six minutes, then the song was done and I was back. It was great to see an old friend of mine who I haven't seen out in weeks. I know she's lurking in the background here, so I'll simply reiterate how happy I was to see her, and she needs to come out more often.

After the club, I went to a small after party and got home around five. I'm still convinced that the events that transpired were fictitious, and yet a small scrap of paper says otherwise.

Saturday was my first card tournament in some time. Normally the events can be stressful and competitive, but I've found a way around that. Bring several decks that are pretty good, and randomly pick one. The randomness takes the edge off the competition. If you spend a lot of time focusing and tuning a deck and investing in it, it's easy to get angry when it doesn’t perform.
After three games, I found myself in 3rd place out of 12, and in the finals! I ended up 4th overall, but I was pleased with how my games went, and had a good idea of things to fix to make it better.

After the games, there was more packing to be done, which won out over the Skinny Puppy concert and my friend's BBQ. I must get to see her before she leaves for China. I saw Skinny Puppy during their last rites tour, so I didn't miss them too much this time around. More people liked the show that I expected. There's a tendency for people to like a band at a certain point in their career, and to then hate them if their sound changes at all. I prefer to let my tastes change along with the band, sticking with them as they experiment with new songs and styles.

The evening wrapped up with a party of a different flavor at the home of Latemodel and Heresiarch. The evening flowed with conversation, tasty dishes, and tropical drink goodness. There were many new faces from Montreal, and old faces from Boston, all buzzing from the concert. The atmosphere of the house was warm and comforting, a feeling your could wrap yourself in that lasts even after the party ends. I told some of the Montrealers about our cookouts, the ones who were at my house before when they visited. I think I might be able to tempt some of them down for a party this summer.
