I lost, so why do I have the most loot?
Aug. 2nd, 2003 08:20 pmI finished up a Warhammer tournament in Harvard Sq. this afternoon. There were only 4 people, but everyone who was there a major league player. By major league, I mean they each have a slew of trophies and medals to their name. Yes, this is even true of me, despite the dire portrait that I often paint here. To make a long story short, I came in last (1 draw, 2 losses) but played some great games and had many exhilarating moments. It's make the games a lot more fun when they are playing the Gladiator soundtrack in the background! *sigh* Times like this I almost feel like a geek. Almost.
Anyway, I won the Best Sportsman award. Some people view this award as a consolation prize for the person who got his ass kicked. Which in a sense is true. But it's also for the person who has the most fun in a day, and the person that the other player's enjoyed playing the most. Everyone who won got trophies and gift certificates, but I got a bonus prize for sportsman: several unreleased models. I won back my entry fee in prize money, and walked away with $70 dollars of merchandise.
Defeat never tasted sweeter!
