A quick report from the first of three tournaments I will be going to in the next three weeks. This was in Waltham at Danger Planet, with my Dark Elf army.

I finished in last place, losing all three games.

One was against a kid who had a cheesy army, and once I accepted that it was a foregone conclusion, I had a small amount of fun.
The second (and best) game of the day was against a guy with a fair but powerful army, lots of knights. I started out strong against him, but he had some many units he was able to swarm around and attack me on several fronts, to which I had no real defense.
The last guy I gave up on turn 4 of 6. A third of my army died on the first few turns, and on the last turn I attacked with three of my units, and all of them did horrible and were run off the field. I could do nothing with what I had left, and quit. It was pretty poor sportsmanship on my part, but I was tired and didn't care.

Half an hour later, I was fine with it. I took my chances and was just very unlucky. I'll have a chance to try again next Saturday. It was only the last game that my dice were hurting me. I'll be trying a different version of it next time, as we will be able to field more points.
I finally got to sleep in, since I only had 2 hours of sleep the night before. The afternoon went by quickly with painting , while my roommate and a friend watched the Goonies commentary track. I never really had the urge to watch the Goonies again, but I admit that I will probably watch it sometime this week. Chicken Run was next (always a fun film) and then it was off to DND where we solved a multitude of puzzles and traps, only to be faced with a dire combat next week. And we'll be too players short! At least those two will be in no danger of dying next week.

Next week begins a week of pestering the recruiters I'm working with, and finish off my high elf army. Perhaps when I'm done, I'll take a break from painting and indulge in some other hobbies. Preferably cheap ones, as I may be a little thin on cash this week.
