Even in the morning, walking to work can remind me of a cyber punk novel. There's the old Boston Wharf and Real Estate sign in big block letters on a wire frame, and the run down warehouses below it. That represents the Old City, the skeleton and frame that the new buildings grew up around. Just across the street is a red brick building, one wall made entirely of green glass that shimmers like a force field. These people have seen the downside of corporate wars, and are resolved to be a harder target time around. Off in the distance four towers are silhouetted against the sky like four fingers of a vast hand. Ventilation shafts for the underground, or air defense batteries for the 21st century?
Add to that the towers of steel and glass, the polluted river, and the congress of races and professions marching mechanically by me (which I mentioned in an earlier post) and it's like I never left Chiba city.
Day at work with low sleep successfully navigated.
Temper kept under control.
Disappointing news weathered quite nicely.
Time for the gym, then dinner then maybe cards at Ben's. If the energy is there.
