I guess I shouldn't have waited until now to write something...
Christmas day passed peacefully. I finally saw Harry Potter today, and asked to join me. We made it there in the nick of time, and I was pleased to see the book come to life. It had some problem with flowing from scene to scene, but it was very nice to see. Guess I'll be rereading that along with Fellowship in the coming days.
The rest of the day was spent at home, painting more Marines and watching movies: Shreck, the Iron Giant, Nightmare Before Christmas, and South Park. It was good to have most of the day to paint, as I ended up not having as much time as I wanted over the past few days. But that time was, for the most part, well spent.
There were also some interesting discussion about Livejournal itself this weekend. Some people think the idea of online journals are kind of suspect. I'm sure that everyone questions their motives about putting a journal online, taking their life and letting it out there for all to see. I'm not sure it's worth going into all that much right now.
Better to get some sleep, as I must return to work tomorrow, and that cough I thought I have driven out has nestled back in my throat.

Success!

I've secured Friday and Monday off work. This means I can drive down to our family's Christmas/holiday celebration in New Jersey. My parents drive up from Pennsylvania, I drive down from Boston, we get to see each other and catch up, and I don't mind there being nothing to do. Nothing being a relative phrase, as NYC is only half an hour away or so. I may drive into the city Saturday to see the WTC remains, and shop. I have less money immediately available though, as I spent a little too much recently (digging into my Christmas cash that should have been used as presents.) But there is a fair bit left, we shall see. I don't really know what I need or want for Christmas; most of what I really want I have. Everything else is secondary, really. I should upgrade my wardrobe a little, but I could also save up a bit, put my Christmas cash and income tax refund and maybe cash in some earned time and get something really big. The temptation to pay of my car loan is also high... but I have at least two years to go on that. Still, getting it paid off sooner means a nice chunk of change left for me each month. Hmm...
Sat night or Sunday I will return to Boston, and I'm keeping my schedule open. I took Monday off work as well, for last minute NYE preparations, and to have another mini vacation through New Year's Day. I suspect the hard part will be going back into the grind for those first three days in January.
