In the blink of an eye...
Sep. 11th, 2001 05:14 pmWelcome to the face of change.
You forget that anything is possible. You get up early for work, stagger to the bus, curse the passenger next to you for stealing your seat. You groan when someone makes a stupid request at work. Then you hear a rumor in the office. Then you dig out your radio, when the web page you're trying to find hangs on you. Then office works grinds to a halt, and the tears start to flow.
I've been saturated by the events of today for eight hours now. I can't even picture the long term ramifications of this. And I'm not going to. I'm going to turn off my television, my radio. I'm going to sit for a while and just think. Or not think. I'm going to stare at what could be a pivotal moment in history, and realize the face of the world has changed in a major way.
Then, after an hour or so, I will rejoin the world. That's what's most important: getting on with life. Living.
