Aug. 20th, 2001

this day is a shining monument to ennui.

The weekend was a blur of dancing, drinking, and recovering. I cleaned house on Friday night, and watched a new episode of Invader Zim. My new quest is to see if I can track down the episodes on the Internet (though my first foray into IRC was confusing and dull - lots to learn, too apathetic to try today). Saturday morning I helped my friend Michael move into his condo (a very swank little bachelor pad: the best things about places like that is that you can do what you like to them because they are YOURS!). From there I retired to gather food and propane for the cookout. There must have been about six or seven events going on that day, so I was very glad to see people attend.
A few hours and glasses of sangria later, and I'm dashing though the house: filling pitchers, adding food to the grill, wandering through to see that everything is going smoothly. Most of the party is a blur, but a pleasant kind of blur, warm and fuzzy.
The party began to thin out as people made their way to another event on the beach, and I made ready for my next event of the evening: a rave in Fitchburg called Inhale: Second Breath
The only bad thing about the night was the security: they all but stripped searched us on the way in, one of my friends almost left because they were going to confiscate his Palm. Fortunately, it only took him 5 minutes to get back in, but it was irritating. They checked pockets, your hair, collars, your shoes, everything. And judging from people's behavior, they weren't thorough enough. But then again, they never are.
The night was fantastic! Lots of great music, lots of room to dance and sit, great lights and sound; one of the best raves I've been to. We danced through to the very end, and made our way home around 6:15.
Sunday I crashed on the couch at Forest's/Bridget's/Jenna's place, when we woke up around noon, we had bagels, watched lots of Simpson's episodes, and more Invader Zim. Then home to shower, laze around the house in an exhausted fashion, and at last to sleep.

I'm still pretty tired from the whole experience, and today's lack of workload did nothing to help it. I'm working on a computer that's due next Monday, and the next task I have isn't due until September. Perhaps I'll read up on TCP/IP tomorrow, or study more networking disks. For today, I'll be leaving very soon. No point in staying. Running for half an hour should wake me up again.
