Aug. 11th, 2001 10:01 pmAbout a week ago, a friend of Forest's mentioned that there was a good progressive night upstairs at Axis on Saturday night. So that is where I am going toinght. This weekend has been amazingly free of parties and the like. A rairty these days, usually every weekend is booked with some sort of event. But no matter how good the group of friends, everyone needs time apart.
I spent most of the day lounging in front of the fan, reading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. I'm now in the same queue of people waiting eagerly for her to finish her book, and the upcoming release of the movie is much more exicitng for me. I once again restored order to the kitchen and my room, then took the T downtown to visit my aunt and her friend Maura. Mamie (her name is Mary Kay, but she insists I still call her Mamie, or sometimes Mame) took us to Magaretti's Little Italy near Copley Sq. It was bustling but we managed to snag a booth. The food was very good, and I enjoy catching up with her, finding out how her trip to Boston was, making small talk with Maura. As they were packing up all the leftovers that I was to inherit, talking over tiramasu and apple contrada, she commented on how my sisters and I turned out. She told me I turned out much better than she expected. She went on quickly to say that had such a low opinion of myself when I was younger, and how far I had come since then. I smiled and thanked her. If she could read my recent entries, she might take back some of her comments. Of course, if I reread some of my old journal entries, those from high school and college.... I would notice that I have changed in several important ways. Perhaps it's time to read the old diary again. What similarities might I see in my current life? What changes?
I'm afraid all of that is going to have to wait for a while. Time for my new Lithium shirt, reflector pants, and well worn docs to explore the dubious dance floors of Axis.
