Greetings from the Outback
Jul. 20th, 2001 11:03 pmof Pennsylvania, that is. Out near Mt. Cobb, at my uncle bill's fabulously landscaped and built house. The little cousins I once watched play Atari are now out drinking at bars. It's amazing to see the changes in them, I could be out drinking with them now.
The ride down was tiring, a few points I felt myself zoning. Fortunately, the car didn't drift. And I made it down here in just under 5 hours WITH rush hour traffic to worry about. Which means the drive back tomorrow should be painless.
The highlight of the trip was cresting a hill 1243 above sea level, and watching the sun set. There were rows of aqua and purple hills, with a big reddish sun hovering over them. Decoded Feedback was on the CD player, the music seemes to settle everywhere, filling the space in the sky and scenery, pulling me out of myself. There was a sense of connection and oneness for about a minute, until I turned the corner.
I love how music does that to me.
I have been reading my responses, and absorbing what you have written. I'm not responding directly to anything yet, partially because I'm not sure that's appropriate. I have to digest what I've read, process it.
But I thank you all for what you've done. It's deeply appreciated.
PS - this location would be ideal for starwatching, there is no light pollution, and the sky is amazing. I'm so psyched for the August viewing.
