Apr. 23rd, 2001 12:05 amToday was my spring cleaning.
It started with doing the dishes, then it expanded to cleaning the stove, and the spice rack. Soon I was cleaning the top of the fridge, and consolidating various boxes of food into the pantry. Then I needed to find a place for our small alcohol collection. Next thing you know, the entire kitched has a face lift. I even fixed the kitchen table.
I like the entire cleaning process: the days of living in college are well behind me, and living in squalor is not something I can stomach anymore.
I also managed to clean up the front porch a bit, or at least get most of the boxes out of the way and into the attic. A little sweeping and arranging should make it guest ready. And there will be guests. The summer barbeque season is upon us. Clay preempted my first cookout by holding a State viewing party. Most of the people on the invite are people from the Grind, or his comedy troupe. Coincidentally, this includes a number of LARP people as well. There are no shortage of days in the summer, and many more chances for cookouts. Plus a Flash Gordon viewing as well...
Not only were there multiple moments of contentness and happiness today, I again was blessed with a good nights sleep and no nightmares. Maybe the mental storm clouds are breaking up. The usual dread that creeps up on me when facing the work week isn't present tonight. It's hard to feel bad about anything with the wind blowing through my room, cool on my back. Candleflames flicker and dance while I write.
Good and bad moments all pass through your life, they come and they go.
I will sit and relish this moment a little longer, before sleep comes.
