Short and simple: Saturday was consumed by a V:TES tournament run by Ben Peal. Over thrity players showed up (which for that game is a huge number), and I ended up winning first place. The games were very involving, and I was worn out by days end, but in a happy way. It was also nice to see David Tatu, who flew all the up from Atlanta to play. We met him when we went down to DragonCon a couple of years ago, and we'll see him again over the summer.

Today was spent relaxing, painting a bit, and watching Chasing Amy (once just the movie, once with the commentary). It's an amazing movie. One big thing I noticed this time around was that I was a lot less sympathetic towards Ben Affleck's character. When I first saw it I think I was a lot like him: understanding and sensitive, but with a serious conservative streak underneath all that. Having lived through a situation similar to that, I see him for what he really was: absorbed in his own problems and feelings of inadequency. Joey was a sympathetic character before, and I feel even more strongly for her this time around. She lived her life, explored, experimented. It's not to late for me to do the same.
