One on the nicest things about the unfolding elections is that Shannon can't complain about the third party candidates robbing her of her win. Stein had 3% the last time I checked, the others 1% each. That still has her losing by 4% or so.

Sometimes you have to weather the bad times to find something truly good.

Ack! Get out of my brain! I said the exact same thing to Shelby at about the exact same time!

There was an interesting set of little pie charts in the Globe this morning though--apparently the other candidates really could have cost O'Brien the 26-35 age bracket, as other candidates got 14 percent of the vote of that group. I forget the other numbers, but there were also enough other votes in the 18-25 age bracket to also cost her that particular group. Which I guess just goes to show, shockingly enough, that younger voters are likelier to vote for more unusual candidates.

In the end though, as you say, the other candidates got a small enough total percentage of the vote that they probably didn't damage her chances.

I'll just add here that I have little to no respect for Rommney at this point and he will have to be an awfully good governor to change that.

I don't respect him much either. Maybe he will end up doing a good job, but at least the democrats will put up a better candidate next time, or the Independents will begin to gain momentum.
