First reaction: Shit! Second reaction: Good! :) Now you can find something that won't stress you too much, and take some time to relax. Best of luck. *as many hugs as you need*
Well that just sucks. Poor you - I hope you at least got a decent package (not like that). But hey - kick back for a couple of days, relax, vent, scream, get drunk, get laid... you've got time now.
shit, dude, I'm also sorry for this ... and, hey, I know we had our bimonthly 'hanging out at pubs' night recently, but if you want to have another one soon, let me know.
Sorry, Chris. I know how awful that feels. I hope that this leads to something more fulfilling, or at least something that doesn't interfere with your real life.
wow. ... I was going to write how dreadful this must be for you. But really, after the shock's worn off, will it be anything more than inconvenient? For a while? Because beyond a paycheck, has this job brought you anything worthwhile? If not, then you've got pretty convincing impetus to find something new now, right? I think you're reasonably financially responsible, so you likely have some breathing room (and that's before you apply severance and unemployment to the equation). So take that slack to relax and reflect, vent some steam. Then, when you're decided and ready, you can add "focused" to your bandoleer of professional qualifications, right there along with talented, skilled, experienced, and all the rest of the deadly ammunition you pack. In the meantime, though, know that you are surrounded by cohorts all at the ready with a stiff drink, a friendly game, a sympathetic ear, or overblown advice. ;-)
Sux0r. Remember: they all suck, but they're not worth an semiautomatic rifle.
Seriously, though, every end is a new beginning. Or something like that. It's an awful time to get laid off, but take the most of this opportunity. Just don't sit around the house a lot - that tends to get old after a while. ;)
AHHHHHH scary f'ing economy. Every f'ing time I read lj someone on my list has been laid off or otherwise lost their job. I swear, I'd like to see a week go by without wanting to hug someone tight over this sort of thing.

I know you'll be cool soon. In the meantime, go home and get really drunk!

pat, pat, pat...
That's poop...
Maybe all of the folks who get laid off should "throw" a party where their gainfully employed friends spot them booze and food.... ;P

Sorry dude.
Looks like Khoury and I may not be long behind you :(
Hrm. Maybe we should use your good credit rating and start a startup...we can sell...er...um...Klae?

I'll send along some cookies, if you like. Which, of the ones Klae brought back, did you like the best? I'll whip up a batch tonight.
You don't have to share them either. *hug*

OK - I echo the sentiment of most people here - take some time to relax, then find something you like better.
