Back to pain.

Ow.
After a month off from the gym, I was due for a return. I decided that instead of going 4-5 times a week, running one day then lifting, I'd go back to doing both and going twice a week, maybe a third day for just running. I also tried a new lifting style, thanks to recommendations from G and Lizerk. Lift the heaviest weight you can for 8-10 reps. Then half the weight, and do as many as you can. For today, I did 20.

Ow. Fuckin' ow!

After the first two exercises, my muscles were on fire. After the thrid, I switched to legs to give my arms a break. I made it through the legs and finished off arms and upper body. Then I came out to stretch. And almost passed out.
Sank down to my knees, waiting for the roaring to stop. Stood up again. Watched the room spin and felt very warm. I laid down, streteched out, then just rested there. I was completely wrecked. I managed to shamble down the street and get some gatoraid, then phoned in an order of pork strips at a Chinese restaurant in Davis Sq. Ah, sweet protein. By the time I made it home, I was feeling fine again. In fact, I felt great.
There's still some residual soreness, which I'm sure I'll feel more of tomorrow morning.
But tonight, I will go out to ManRay and dance.

Masochist?

Heh.

Protein powder is your friend!

GNC's chocolate soy protein powder rocks my world. With blended-in banana! I lived on this stuff when I was lifting regularly.
