jchrisobrien: (big trouble!)

Phase one - complete

Whenever I work at my computer table (either typing or painting) I used to sit on a fold out lawn chair. It's fancy and has padding, but it's not really comfortable. My recent shoulder issues made this painfully aware. I couldn't sit for longer than 30 seconds before noticing the pain in my shoulder.

I finally picked up a new and proper office chair (courtesy of Uncle Sam). It's black, comfy, moves up and down, just like a proper chair ought to.

I have yet to feel any pain in the time it took me to type this.

Next up - a new computer desk. The glass models look very sleek, but there aren't a lot of other hiding placed for painting supplies, and the like. I've seen wooden ones that were OK, but looked too much like cheap pressed wood. I'm going to take another week or so to look around. Stapes has a decent looking one, but it seems a bit small. Besides Office Depot and Staples, can anyone reccommend somewhere else I can look?

After desk, I can go several different directions: more speakers for the TV, or a bike to join the legion of bikers (saving gas isn't that big an issue for all that I drive), or I can join the other legion of flatscreen TV owners. *drool*

IKEA!!
i *heart* ikea. they do have some pressed wood stuff, but they also have solid wood, and some swanky sheet-metal stuff that's very industrial looking. it's really only a 40 minute drive and if you get there before noon on a saturday or sunday, you have the place to yourself.
and now i feel that i really have to share this to accompany the advice: http://www.jonathancoulton.com/songdetails/Ikea
it's a free download. really, you must do it.

When I go for a desk...I usually hit either Sams Club or WalMart, both online. They seem to have some pretty decent stuff. My next computer desk will be the roll top type, so that I can close it up when company is here, and I tend to like that look as it is. Also, look on Overstock.com, one of my most favorite sites. They tend to have a great selection, and shipping is great. Target sometimes has a good selection, but their shipping makes me wince. Well, those are my top choices of first looks, Overstock being the number one. I am an O junkie, lol. I got my bedding from there and loving it, and I have several pieces of jewelry as well. I did much of my holiday shopping from there last year as well. I have no idea why I just typed that, but it is not in me to delete it, hehehehehe. It is a rambling day for me I guess.
