Another check in the win column

A good (and victorious) game was had against Keith's beast army.    I had to rush, but I got in a workout, dinner, and time to hang out with Heatray and Tegin before the club.  He had the new Buffy comic (essentially season 8, written by Joss Whedon).  There is a big gap between the end of the series and the start of this one, and lots has happened.  It's a little jarring.  I want to give it a good read before I comment too much on it, but they got Xander's character right on.  I love his new look!

S-o-M was great.  I reconnected with the Providence Trio, there will be more fun times to be had once the weather gets warmer.  There was a good ratio of drinking to dancing, and a number of familiar faces I don't normally see at Machine.  I got all my passengers home safe, and had a little Journey sing along before bed.

Sunday was tiring, but we pressed on through a perilous battle in our DND game.  Next week we'll jump into the thick of it.  I ended the evening with Perihelion, watching Howl's Moving Castle over a few drinks.  Perihelion is a fantastically generous and amazing guy, and I'm quite honored to be his friend.  How's Moving Castle was chock full of cuteness.  I was a bit confused about the curse on the main character.  It seemed to fade in and out over time, I think it was because the closer she got to figuring out to break it, the more she would change.  It was still a little confusing, but a treat to watch.

I thought the same thing about Howl's Moving Castle. But firstly, I usually assume I'm missing something due to translation or context and secondly, I just end up enjoying his stories in a very simple way and don't pay much attention to the inconsistencies: "Look! Cute things! Pay no attention to that dangling plot hook!" :)

There's at least one thing that's more clear in the book than the movie, but I don't think the fading in and out of the curse was part of the book. I thought that it faded while she slept, and one fade was a dream sequence.
