jchrisobrien: (getting ready)

sour

As weekends go, this was weak.

Today was marginally better than yesterday, but it still sucked. Saw Snatch, which was amusing but very much like Lock Stock and 2 Smoking barrels. Maybe a little too much so. Listened to the commentaries, Guy Ritchie is kinda an asshole. Watched Scandal. John Hurt was extremely unappealing, and I didn't feel all that bad when he got his comeuppance in the end. It's all well and good to play with fire, but when you get burned... what do you expect? War of the Worlds was the most entertaining film of the weekend. Chilling at times, yet the sugary ending didn't spoil the whole experience for me. It had a lot of disturbing things to say about people: The innate likeability of humanity shrinks as the number of them grow.

Guess the week's about to start soon.

I'm going to enjoy it even if it kills me.

sorry to hear about the suckage. for what it's worth, i understand that snatch *is* lock stock and two smoking barrels, just remade maybe even by the same people but with a bigger budget. i could be wrong. this is just what i remember.

life should be better to you!

You're pretty much spot on about snatch. They mirror each other very closely, Brad Pitt's part is about the only thing that's different. It was mildly entertaining, but would have been better had I not seen lock stock first.

Life should be better, but it doesn't always work out that way. In the grand scheme of things, these are all flesh wounds. We try to make our lives the best we can, we have to be the ones who make something of it. I was going to say it's harder for some than others, but we all struggle and have things that aren't ideal, that don't go the way we want them to. It's just different from person to person, is all.
