jchrisobrien: (big trouble!)

Failed my reflex check

Did I mention I was nearly in an accident last night?

I'm riding on one of the new MBTA buses, pulling into the turning lane from Rt. 16 onto Mass. Ave.  I hear a fire engine, and sure enough a big red engine is barreling down the street.  For some unexplainable reason, the bus driver (an irritating silver haired woman) didn't stop for the bus and continued trying to turn left!  I looked up from my book as I heard the shouts.  The women in front of me were on their feet and screaming.  The bus driver continued her turn, and in fact turned poorly so the bus was wedged up on the sideway.  The fire engine came within about a foot of the bus before it stopped.

Had the fire engine hit us, it would have impacted at the window of the seat right in front of me.  From my perspective, it didn't seem possible that there would be an actual wreck.  And I have a feeling that when I go, I won't see it coming.

omg. if you have that driver again, get her name so you can file a complaint with the MBTA.

You cheated Death's plan! Who was sitting in front of you on the bus? They are probably dead already of a freak accident involving paper clips.

Glad you're ok. Nearly being in an accident is frightening, but being in a large vehicle that is almost hit by an even larger vehicle must be really horrendous.
