FuturePerfect: part 2
Genesis - The Scientist comes too, and sees his father, who was also a scientist and instrumental in founding the society they created. The have a long discussion, in which his father tells him that as scientists they helped shape their society, and reality, with their beliefs. Science itself was just a universally shared belief. People of sufficiently strong will can bend the rules of science, of nature, of the universe. the Scientist is one of those people, as was his father, as was the Scientists' Wife. The Scientist doesn't believe, but after a long discussion he sees the truth of it. He comes to inside the data warehouse, just as City Security comes looking for him. He wills himself to leave and he does, disappearing before the surprised guards eyes. (This is the Awakening part of the story; the father figure is the Scientist's Avatar, who left the mysterious message to bring him to this place).
Structure - This is an action sequence mostly. The Scientist tracks down other members of the "Terrorist" cell, and shows them that he now thinks as they do. He demonstrates his abilities, and joins the Enlightened Resistance. The ER seek to reveal the truths about how the City of the Future came to be, and questions the sacrifices made by millions to create a Utopia for a few thousand. The ER doesn't kill or blow up buildings, their weapons are information, shutting down traffic grids and offices, shaking people out of their routine.
Fearless - The Council has spies in the ER, and one of them tips off the location of the Scientist. A long involved chase and fight sequence occurs, and in the end the Scientist is captured by the Council.
4AM - This short sequence shows the Council sentencing the Scientist to death. He is too dangerous to rehabilitate, and too powerful to contain for long times. He is led away for immediate termination, while members of the ER set about trying to free him, and to broadcast the information about his execution, the first in over 100 years.
Beloved - Half of this scene takes place in the mind of the Scientist, as he sees his wife watching him. He talks to her, remembering the good they strove for, and the love they shared. In the meantime, the Council tries to kill the Scientist via lethal injection, but it doesn't work. They try varying methods, but the Scientist refuses to die or be hurt. Several members of the ER infiltrate the prison where the execution is taking place. They broadcast the attempts to a shocked and confused public. In desperation, the Council destroys the entire prison, reducing it to atoms. Nothing remains.
Airships - The Scientist and his liberators are standing in a park, the same park that the Scientist and his Wife had their picnic in. The Scientist was able to use the energy to fuel their escape from the prison, but at the cost of his physical form. In the little time he has left, he tells the ER members to man a ship and leave the city. The Scientist believes that there may be others cities or enclaves of humanity, and he bids them to seek them out. There will still be resistance in the city, and the population is already beginning to openly question the council. The ER members leave to go to the ship, and the Scientist lets his consciousness pass on, leaving ground, stepping into a new world.
The End.
