Saturday the 5th

I spent a little time painting in the morning, but abandoned all thought of gaming for the day in favor of visiting some old friends out in Leominster. My roommate and Jen Wilson, our lovely former theater friend from college, caravanned out to ms_entropy's mom's house. There was an old fashioned Coke cooler filled with alcoholic goodness. There was a steak the size of my thigh that I somehow managed to eat. There was a swimming pool, with cool water and foam noodles for floating and smacking people with. I remember floating in the pool, a noodle running the length of my body, legs crossed over it, with another noodle slung under my arms and back. I was aqua Jesus. The sun was warm, only ducking behind the clouds briefly. The storm they warned us of never came. I guess the libation of Guinness Ta_Chuang poured out kept the skies clear.

You will end up meeting very many people in your life. Some groups you will keep in touch with, some with fade from your life, some you will drive away. Today I spent time with some old friends I hadn't seen in a long time, and it felt natural. It's good to know that you can revisit some times and places, and not feel awkward.

The sun and heat and drinking from earlier in the day finally caught up with me later, as I helped a number of people welcome Spriggan's sister back to Boston. I was fine in the beginning, and then it was all I could do to stay conscious and not be violently ill. The fence was my friend, propping me up. The breeze stirred itself to cool my brow, and glass after glass of water flushed through my system. By the end of the night, I was up and responding, thought not as verbose as I may have liked to have been. That's a long running theme with me at parties. I want to be a little more social in talking with people. Instead I flit from place to place. I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with that. It's just a question of, what do I want out of the evening? In any event, I enjoyed both parties, though I didn't quite enjoy the sunburn I received. I hope my tan doesn't tarnish my Gothic credibility...
